So many points of connection in this column, Doug. Thank you! I'll mention just one: the sense of place –– I lament its loss all around me in this rural community. Somehow I thought it would be stronger in my own children.
A powerful column that wraps together so many issues and feelings that occupy the thoughts of people who care who care about where they live and what makes us human and the importance of never, ever giving up. No matter what.
I've been there Doug, and still go there once in a while, so I get it. Thanks for the reminder that with each day comes a chance for change. Or, as a friend of mine once put it, "Wait long enough and everything changes." (Of course that goes all ways!) Hang in.
Doug, Many ruminate with you about the loss of newspapers, loss of community connectivity and loss of democracy's infrastructure. BTW this week thanks to Jane's babylift mention, I called a former co-worker who has a babylift son. An overdue conversation provided an update on his miraculous life. Without Jane's writing I probably would not have noted that historical event and impact. You and Jane honor your family and newspaper with your poignant writing.

Yes, profound point Cheryl. That's a perspective I don't have -- so thank you for adding this to the conversation.
The Butterfly Effect. I am going to hang on to that one, Doug. Thank you.
