This is an outstanding story about Lorena Lopez,, whose reporting work I've known and respected for years, and the good work she and her newspapers are doing in Denison and across western Iowa. Her personal story of how she moved from being a TV news celebrity in Nicaragua, to a new immigrant doing manual labor in Ames IA while she learned English, to becoming a reporter and editor on her own newspaper in western Iowa -- wow, it's really inspirational. Lorena Lopez is an MVP Iowan!
As an Iowa native who worked as a reporter for several papers in the state (before going on to report for Texas newspapers), I think the task of restoring faith in news organizations will be arduous.
In fact I doubt the task is possible. News organizations turned their backs on readers and viewers long ago.
Great to hear about this success story!
Thank you, Lorena, Gordon, and Doug.

Iowans should all be proud of the amazing work Lorena has done at La Prensa.
