This columnist, a 52-year-old who went to college with an early-generation home computer and got through four years without a cell phone may not be the right person to dispense advice to kids in their first weeks of college. The Iowa Mercury is a reader-supported publication. Doug—This gives new meaning to “commencement address”. Great advice to young people as they commence their college experience. Sadly, some of our mutual SAE brothers must have missed the part about the True Gentleman in their pledge manuals.
Sound advice with a brief addendum to No. 10. I married my high school honey, but not until we went off to different colleges and saw other people. Think I’ll put this in my futures file and pull it out before my young grandchildren head off to college.
