Good catch, Doug, to recall Gov. Walz’s past jabs at Iowa & his more serious criticisms of Iowa government policies, too. But I think most Iowans have known little about him. As they learn more about him, his family and his history, I think there’s going to be a whole lot about him that Iowans will really identify with and admire.
Building from what Chuck said - and given that 68.9% of Iowans think Iowa is on the wrong track - have you seen any polling on Harris vs Trump in Iowa? I know there is a significant number of VERY LOUD Trump supporters, but I think there is a greater number that is going to be the silent majority in November and surprise some people. Gov Walz is really going to help with that, as long as the Iowa jokes don't go too far!
Great piece, Doug. My sister has lived in Minnesota for decades so I’ve always followed their news and have tended to like the Minnesota governor’s handling on key issues, like COVID and reproductive rights, for example. And, his posts dinging Iowa are spot on. 🎯

I remember Ben Nelson. Was he a Nebraska Governor andd Senator? I saw him at an Audubon Society Crane gathering in Grand Island.
